Name: Auster, aka Alphonse Bell, aka "the Southern Wind"
Species/origin: human/sylph, Earth (America)

Strength: A+
Endurance: B
Agility: D
Magic ability: C
Luck: C

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
6'2", ~210 lb; broad shoulders, very muscular build.

2. How old is he?
He appears to be somewhere in his 20s, but is actually much older than that; due to his sylfaen heritage, he ages much more slowly than full-blooded humans.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Fairly rigid; it's rare to ever see him slouch.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Being an agent of Orion, he keeps himself in top physical condition, and his medical history is spotless.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He tends to take heavy steps, but apart from that, he is very measured and controlled with his movements.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He is actually considerably attractive, having a sylph and an opera starlet for parents, but it isn't something he's particularly aware of or cares about. (It could even be said that he somewhat resents this attractiveness.)

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
His skin is pale, enough that he sunburns pretty easily.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Pale, platinum blond, soft but thick, and long enough that he needs to keep it tied back. (He also needs barettes to keep it out of his eyes when he works, but never when he's out in the field.) His hair is the one major physical attribute he shares with sylphs, in its texture and always near-perfect appearance, as well as the fact that no matter what he does to try and style or cut it, it always returns to its normal length and condition. It's something of a point of frustration with him.

9. What color are his eyes?
Blue-grey.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
He has a tattoo of three vertically-aligned stars on the back of his neck, marking him as an Orion agent.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
His back, particularly around his neck and shoulder blades.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Strictly utilitarian, consisting mostly of dark and neutral colors; he really doesn't care much for fashion at all, and typically wears only what his job requires.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
They do, although comfort isn't exactly an issue with him either when it comes to his clothing.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
He dresses a bit more casually in his free time, but otherwise pretty much the same.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Commando. :U

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Deep.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Evenly, though considering his line of work, he's skilled at controlling the volume, speed, and pitch of his voice. If he isn't sure of what he intends to say, then he's more likely not to say anything at all, so he rarely hesitates.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
His time in Anchor has eliminated any unusual accent he might have had in his youth.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
His first language is English, and he is skilled with most European languages, particularly Italian.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Nope.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Although he can speak easily on the fly when he's working undercover, as much of his job demands, in more personal situations he prefers to give his words more careful consideration.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Very eloquent, unless he's upset or somehow surprised (which, despite his usual appearance and demeanor, is really not that difficult to achieve).

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Very intelligent, although his home life in his youth didn't allow for much formal education.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
As with his speech, he is very skilled with quick thinking on the job, but in personal situations, he tends to use more careful deliberation.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Very logical, very practical. He tends not to allow himself to think in terms of desires, dreams, or ideals, since his personal experience has taught him such ventures are wastes of time.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
He attended school in his youth for some time, but due to his mother's flightiness, he rarely stayed in one place long enough to gain much of an education; eventually, he stopped trying. After he was recruited by Orion, however, the organization sponsored his formal education in Anchor and physically trained him themselves.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Due to his upbringing, he is deeply interested and knowledgeable in various fine arts, particularly classical music and opera. With his experience and training in Orion, he is also highly skilled with espionage, CQC, and usage of various firearms.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Very, very introverted. There are only a few people (or less) that he would ever consider opening up even the slightest amount to.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
He is usually very good at keeping a calm, stoic temperament, but it's fairly easy to rile or annoy him. If he's ever upset or angry, however, he's most likely to keep it to himself.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
As an Orion agent, he tends to be suspicious of everyone he meets and everything he sees for the first time. Even after the first meeting or encounter, he acts with caution.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
React.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
While he isn't completely devoid of humor, he takes everything with utmost seriousness. The only time he does show a sense of humor is in private situations, among those whom he trusts (as few as they are), and usually only with some alcohol in him.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
None in particular.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His mother's suicide, and his subsequent encounter with the Dark Regenerist, in which he received his life's purpose and learned of the terrible fate he would have to carry out; his experiences with Konrad Sharpless, even beyond the man's termination from Orion; and the moment when he carried out that same, terrible fate.

14. What does he fear?
His greatest fear is losing anyone whom he cares for in any way, but especially by his own hand; this is why he is normally so withdrawn and slow to trust.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
As far as he is concerned, his only purpose in life is to destroy the King Gray, and all that he does is in preparation for that goal. Beyond that, he has no idea what to do with himself.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Anything concerning his private life, really; he's somewhat paranoid about anyone knowing anything about him that he did not personally divulge to that person himself.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
His father, a sylph, had literally no presence in Auster's life as he was growing up; his mother raised and took care of him well enough in his early youth, but after James Price became her primary patron and suitor, he pretty much had to fend for himself. He always loved his mother, but although he's unwilling to admit it, he deeply resented her total devotion to Price and subsequent neglect of himself; never once, however, has he resented or blamed her for her abusive treatment of him, both emotional and physical, instead blaming it on the deterioration of her sanity, his father, James Price, and himself.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
None.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
None, but to be fair, he really only has one blood relative left (his father), whom he downright hates.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
The only person whom he might even remotely consider as family is one of his fellow agents, Artemis; in actuality, though, she sees him more as her older brother than he sees her as a younger sister.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
As mentioned above, the closest person to him right now is Artemis. He encountered her on a mission to exterminate a Gray, and rescued her from a far more dangerous entity similar to Grays; in doing so, however, he inadvertently interfered with her own attempt to destroy that entity. Even so, the encounter led to her being recruited by Orion, and the two bonded thereafter over their common experiences, both personal and regarding Grays.

6. Does he have other close friends?
The only other person with whom he was ever that close was with Konrad, and their relationship was something beyond friendship alone.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
"Making friends" isn't exactly a priority for him, and his prickly, serious demeanor tends to intimidate most people.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Currently single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
It's difficult to say whether (or on whom) he ever had a "first crush," but the last person he ever had any physical attraction or romantic inclination towards was Konrad Sharpless.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He really doesn't "look for" romantic partners period, since the thought of trusting someone to that extent isn't something he's comfortable with.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No, and no.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
The King Gray is his absolute nemesis.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
5 on the Kinsey scale, so he's mostly only attracted to guys.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He enjoys it, but he can live without it--which is good, considering his trust issues make it difficult for him to even consider the thought of having sex even with those who are close to him.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
His tastes in the bedroom are fairly vanilla, but it doesn't take much to arouse him; however, he does tend to get very passionate during sex, and it is a particularly emotionally intense experience for him.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
His birthdate is December 29, 1901, which makes him a Capricorn born in the year of the metal ox. Both signs fit him pretty well.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Neither. He knows better than not to believe in higher powers entirely, having dealt with a number of deities in his time with Orion, but he also knows that faith in or devotion to such higher powers will do nothing to change his lot in life.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
He has the same morals and ethics that could be expected of any other man with his position, and follows the code of Orion and law of Anchor as best as he is able. It's incredibly unlikely that he could ever bring himself to kill another living being if his job didn't require it, or if that living being wasn't a Gray; only once has the killing of a Gray ever bothered him, and that was an exceptional case.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
As long as it has nothing to do with him, he is largely indifferent to what others think or believe.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
From his experiences with deities and Grays, as well as his own father, he holds little regard for immortals and other beings that could be considered "superhuman." Grays, on the other hand, he considers to be absolutely less than human and deserving only of extermination, whether they have evil intentions or not.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Orion pays him enough to allow him to live comfortably, and he never really has to worry about debt.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He could currently be considered upper middle class, but due to his mother's lifestyle and gradual lack of work and support from patrons, much of his youth was spent in debt and poverty.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives in an upscale apartment in Anchor, paid for by Orion; the only other people he has allowed to even visit are Konrad and Artemis.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Wine, art, literature, and other "finer things" that he enjoys.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He is a senior agent under the Orion Guild, commanding officer of the Gray division, and one of the most skilled operatives in their employ. He doesn't so much enjoy his work as consider it to be the only worthwhile thing he is capable of doing in his life, and also sees Orion as the tool that will allow him to gain vengeance against the King Gray.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
"Fine arts," as mentioned previously, but particularly opera. He prefers to relax by himself in what little downtime he has.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He eats when he can, and though his personal tastes run on the classier, more expensive side of things, he tends to be satisfied with whatever is filling. His metabolism and physical routine is such that he generally doesn't worry about eating anything particularly healthy or unhealthy.
